Summary

Strikes race and ethnicity from diversity requirements for state boards and commissions.

The bill strikes race and ethnicity from two state laws that tell the governor and other appointing officials to seek diverse membership on state boards and commissions. It touches the governor and every official who appoints members to a state board, commission or agency with statewide reach. Appointers would no longer be told to aim for racial or ethnic diversity, but they would still be told to seek geographic diversity and, for one commission, diversity by economic status and sex.
