HB 3693
Orr Bill Adds Unnamed City To Hotel Tax List
Died in committee
Verdict: Smells
Why it's charged
Bracket bill
The only new city on the list is identified by a cross-reference to another section, not by name. Population brackets like 'at least 700,000 but less than 950,000' aim the rule at a handful of cities. The caption does say 'certain municipalities,' which tempers this.

Summary
New city on the list: “a municipality described by Section 351.152(52).” That’s it.
This bill rewrites the list of cities allowed to use certain tax revenue under Section 351.1015 of the Tax Code, the chapter on municipal hotel occupancy taxes, for qualified projects. It merges several 2023 versions of that list into one and adds a new city described only by a cross-reference to Section 351.152(52). The named cities keep or gain this spending authority starting September 1, 2025.
