Summary

At least four times a year.

This bill requires railroad companies already covered by an existing state rail safety law to offer training at least four times a year on handling incidents involving the hazardous materials they carry. The training must go to firefighters, certified volunteer firefighters, peace officers, and certain emergency medical workers who are not tied to a hospital and serve areas without a city or county fire department. The railroad pays for the training, it must match what the company's own employees get, it must allow online attendance on request, and the Texas Transportation Commission writes the rules starting September 1, 2025.
