Summary

Show enough evidence and the extension is yours. Rules due April 1, 2026.

The bill lets a fire department ask the Texas Commission on Fire Protection for more time to meet the commission's minimum standards, and the commission must grant the extension if the department shows enough evidence. It touches fire departments covered by those standards and the commission, which must write rules for the process by April 1, 2026. On the ground, departments that cannot meet the standards on time get a formal path to delay, and that path ends on September 1, 2027.
