Summary

No public records request for the care trust fund records.

This bill makes records the state keeps about the finances of perpetual care cemeteries and their care trust funds confidential, so the public cannot get them through a public records request. It touches cemetery operators, the families who pay into their perpetual care trust funds, and members of the public or press seeking those records. On the ground, the department can still share the records with other state agencies or local governments when it thinks doing so serves the public or helps enforce a law, but ordinary citizens lose access starting September 1, 2025.
