Summary

A fresh look whenever data shows an area over the limit.

The bill requires the state environmental agency to take a fresh look at the Texas air quality standard for benzene whenever monitoring or modeling data shows an area is over, or likely over, a state or national benzene limit. It touches the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and, indirectly, communities and facilities in areas with high benzene readings. Once triggered, the agency must reevaluate the standard and update related exposure guidelines as soon as practicable, starting September 1, 2025.
