Summary

Three months on a trial jury in five years, and you’re done.

The bill bars anyone who has served as a trial juror for three straight months in the past five years from serving again. It also tells the state health agency to set up a program that pays $150 to jurors and alternates who paid for counseling after sitting on a trial involving homicide, kidnapping, sexual offenses, assault, or family offenses, but only if lawmakers fund it. When funded, judges in those trials must tell jurors about the program in writing and give them a certificate of attendance, and the agency must pay eligible jurors within 90 days.
