Summary

Section 250.007 goes. Cities and counties can regulate rentals again.

The bill repeals Section 250.007 of the Local Government Code, a state law that limits how cities and counties can regulate the renting or leasing of housing. It touches cities, counties, landlords and renters across Texas. Once the limit is gone, local governments would be free to adopt their own rental housing rules that the current law blocks.
