Summary

Still no storing or disposing of it here.

The bill keeps Texas's ban on storing or disposing of high-level radioactive waste in the state, and keeps the matching bar on state water and stormwater permits for federally licensed waste storage sites. It changes the existing exception for storage at nuclear power reactor sites and university research reactor sites by deleting the words limiting it to reactors that are "currently or formerly operating." On the ground, a site with a nuclear power reactor or a university research reactor could store its waste on site even if that reactor is not yet running, while off-site storage remains banned.
