Summary

Barriers near playgrounds and entrances earn a higher Texas Rising Star rating.

The bill tells the Texas Workforce Commission to give a higher Texas Rising Star quality rating to child-care providers that install crash-rated bollards or similar safety barriers near playgrounds, entrances and other places where children and staff gather. It touches child-care providers in the Texas Rising Star Program and the commission, which must write rules to run the change. On the ground, providers that put up these barriers can earn a better rating, though the section heading mentions a grant program that the text never actually creates.
