THE TEXT

“A commission serving 200 or more participating governmental units”…

Bill text, introduced version (I)

The caption covers regional planning commissions in general, but the new pay power reaches only commissions above a numeric size cutoff. That aims the change at the largest commissions rather than all of them.

Summary

Only the largest commissions, and they set staff pay as they choose.

The bill lets a regional planning commission that serves 200 or more member local governments set its own salary schedule for its classified staff positions. It touches only the larger regional planning commissions and the people who work for them. Those commissions could set staff pay as they choose for fiscal years starting on or after September 1, 2025.
