Summary

Meets the 11-month billing deadline in personal injury claims.

The bill lets a health care provider meet the state's 11-month deadline for billing a patient by sending the bill to the patient's lawyer instead, when the care relates to a personal injury claim and the patient has a lawyer. It touches health care providers, injured patients who have hired attorneys, and those attorneys. On the ground, a bill mailed to the patient's lawyer on time now counts as timely, unless the patient or responsible person directs otherwise, starting with services provided on or after September 1, 2025.

SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
