Summary

Due 15 days before school starts. It sets daily pay for docked leave.

The bill requires school boards to give teachers, counselors and librarians a yearly work calendar at least 15 days before school starts, and to use that calendar to set daily pay when docking unpaid leave. It bars the educator certification board from sanctioning teachers who quit late in the summer for serious illness, a spouse's job move, family needs, or a reasonable belief they had permission. It also lets hearing examiners dismiss settled or withdrawn cases, creates agency grants and training for hiring retired teachers and for teacher retention, has the agency collect data on vacant teaching jobs, and makes it easier for teachers to remove disruptive or bullying students from class, with parents notified and students able to appeal.
