relating to a study on mold contamination in housing developments
supported by financial assistance administered by the Texas
Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
No inspection, no repair duty, no penalty. Just a report, on “existing resources.”
The bill orders the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to study how often mold contamination happens, and why, in housing it helps fund. It touches tenants and owners of state-assisted housing developments only indirectly, since the agency must report to the legislature by September 1, 2026, with recommendations. Nothing changes on the ground: no inspection, repair duty or penalty is created, and the law expires September 1, 2027.
