Summary

Grant money is for the training only, starting the 2025-2026 school year.

The bill orders the state education commissioner to set up a grant program that pays school districts and charter schools to train teachers and administrators in best practices for teaching historically underserved students. It touches public school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, their educators and administrators, and the Texas Education Agency, which must write the rules on eligibility, applications and grant amounts. Schools that win a grant may spend the money only on that training, starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
