Summary

Dates, offices and filing periods, 150 days before election day.

The bill requires special local governments, meaning any political subdivision other than a county, city, or independent school district, that holds an election and has a website to post the election date, a call for candidates, the offices on the ballot, the filing period, and when candidate packets are available, no later than 150 days before election day. Those same bodies must also post each candidate's name online within 10 business days of receiving the application if they have fewer than 10,000 registered voters, or within 2 business days if they have more than 10,000. Voters and would-be candidates in districts such as utility, hospital, or other special districts get earlier and clearer public notice of elections, starting with elections ordered on or after September 1, 2025.
