Summary

No veteran status, no citizenship application. Supervisor posts wait for U.S. citizenship.

The bill lets the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement license, and lets cities, counties and other local governments hire, people who are legally admitted citizens of the freely associated states as defined by federal law. These applicants do not have to be veterans or apply for U.S. citizenship, unlike the legal permanent resident veterans already allowed under current law. Agencies must check proof of that status before hiring, and the hire still cannot hold a supervisory post until becoming a U.S. citizen.
