THE TEXT

“The State Preservation Board may use any available money to install repeater systems on the Capitol grounds”…

Bill text, introduced version (I)

The bill's only operative verb is "may," and it reaches only money the board already has available. It imposes no duty, no deadline and no appropriation, so nothing has to happen.

Summary

No duty, no deadline, no new money. The board “may” install them. Or not.

The bill lets the State Preservation Board spend any money it already has on repeater systems at the Capitol to improve radio, first responder and public safety broadband coverage. It touches the board and anyone who uses radios or broadband on the Capitol grounds, including in elevators, parking garages, the basement and the Capitol extension. Nothing is required to change, because the bill sets no duty, no deadline and no new money; the board may install the systems or not.
