Summary

Wastewater gear already qualifies. The bill adds gear for water at 1,000 mg/L dissolved solids or more.

The bill widens an existing sales tax break for equipment used to treat, reuse, or recycle water for fracking at oil and gas wells. Today the break covers equipment for wastewater; the bill extends it to equipment for any water that is not freshwater, meaning water with 1,000 milligrams per liter or more of dissolved solids, such as brackish water. Oil and gas operators and their suppliers would pay no state sales tax on more of this equipment starting September 1, 2025.
