Summary

The state definition of a machine gun goes too.

The bill deletes machine guns from the Texas Penal Code list of prohibited weapons and repeals the state's legal definition of a machine gun. It touches anyone in Texas who possesses, makes, transports, repairs or sells a machine gun, along with the police and prosecutors who enforce the weapons law. Starting September 1, 2025, those acts would no longer be a state offense under this section, though the bill does not change any federal rule.
