Summary

The Railroad Commission writes spacing rules where no proration units exist.

The bill orders the Railroad Commission to write rules setting minimum distances or other standards for oil and gas wells. The rules apply to areas without set proration units and must allow no more than one well per 640 acres on land with an active ranching operation. Drillers on ranch land in those areas would face tighter well spacing once the rules are adopted, starting September 1, 2025.
