Summary

It must cover every part of the state.

The bill requires the Texas Department of Public Safety to buy a dedicated wireless broadband network service for its own first responders, and that service must cover every part of the state. It also lets the department help local and other first responders pick or renew such a service, and requires the department to keep a database of providers, their coverage areas and their service availability. The department must cut off network access for employees who leave, and must send lawmakers an annual report on cost, use, disaster performance and recommendations, starting with the law taking effect September 1, 2025.
