Summary

Drops and ointments for their own patients. No pharmacy license needed.

The bill lets eye doctors hand out prescription eye drops and ointments directly to their own patients. It touches physicians who specialize in ophthalmology and their patients, and it lets those doctors charge for stocking, storing and labeling the drugs without a pharmacy license. Patients can get these eye medicines at the doctor's office instead of a pharmacy, while the doctor must still follow labeling, packaging and recordkeeping rules.
