Summary
TEA asks for more but can’t dictate how districts submit it.
The bill widens the information the Texas Education Agency may demand from school districts about school safety, adding threat assessments, emergency management, vulnerability assessments and intruder detection audits to the list. It also bars the agency from dictating how districts submit that information, and from dictating which threat assessment tools districts use or how their teams run those assessments. School districts keep control over their own forms and threat assessment methods while the state gets broader reporting rights, starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
