Bill text, introduced version (I)

The bill's only duty is a study and a report due in late 2026. No change to child-care costs or subsidies is made now. The caption honestly says it is a study.

Summary

A report due December 15, 2026. No change to costs or subsidies. Law expires 2027.

The bill orders the Texas Workforce Commission to study how much child care costs in Texas compared with what families earn, including cost trends, subsidy money, and how many families qualify for help. It touches only the commission and the state leaders and committees who get the report. Nothing changes on the ground for families or child-care providers; a report is due by December 15, 2026, and the law expires September 1, 2027.
