Summary

Sell precise location data? Post a plain notice saying so.

The bill adds 'real-time driving data' to the list of sensitive data under the Texas consumer data privacy law, covering things like a driver's speed, braking, acceleration, location and trip times. It touches companies that collect personal data and Texans whose cars or apps track how and where they drive. Driving data gets the same extra protections as other sensitive data, and any company that sells precise location data must post a plain notice saying so next to its privacy notice starting September 1, 2025.
