Summary

No expulsion for profanity, disruption or dress code violations.

The bill bars Texas public schools from expelling students or sending them to a disciplinary alternative school for minor code-of-conduct violations like insubordination, classroom disruption, profanity, or attendance, dress and grooming violations. It also removes a principal's option to send a student a teacher kicked out of class straight to a disciplinary alternative program, leaving only another classroom or in-school suspension. Students, teachers, principals and school districts are affected starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
