Summary

No deputy early voting clerks for primaries or general elections under the subchapter.

The bill says no one may be appointed as a deputy early voting clerk under the affected subchapter for a primary election or a general election for state and county officers, and it repeals Section 85.0091(b) of the Election Code, whose text is not shown here. It touches the county officials who run early voting and the people they would otherwise appoint as deputy clerks for those major elections. Starting with elections ordered on or after September 1, 2025, that route to appointing early voting deputies is closed for primaries and November state and county elections, though the bill's drafting is muddled because it says it amends Chapter 31 while adding a Chapter 83 section number.
