Summary

Life without parole when a victim was under 14. Jurors must agree on age.

The bill raises the punishment for continuous sexual abuse of a child to life in prison without parole when at least one act was committed against a victim younger than 14. It touches defendants charged under this existing offense and requires a jury, when it decides the case, to agree unanimously on the victim's age. Cases where no victim was under 14 keep the current range of 25 to 99 years or life, and the change applies only to offenses committed on or after September 1, 2025.
