Summary

Counties with an international port join border and oil-patch counties.

The bill adds one more kind of county to the list of counties whose sheriffs and deputies can apply to be certified to enforce commercial truck safety standards. The new category is any county that contains an international port, which joins existing categories like border counties and certain large or oil-patch counties. Starting September 1, 2025, sheriffs in those port counties could seek certification and then stop and inspect commercial vehicles for safety violations.
