Caption from analyzed text · version I.

Summary

One resolution, and the appraisal district reappraises everything.

This bill lets a school district's board pass a resolution forcing the local appraisal district to reappraise all property in the school district in any year the appraisal district skipped reappraisal. The chief appraiser must finish the job by the school district's deadline, which must be at least 30 days after the resolution is delivered, and must put enough staff on it, while the school district pays the cost. Property owners inside the school district could see new appraised values mid-cycle, and school districts get a new lever over the appraisal calendar starting January 1, 2026.

AN ACT

relating to the ability of a school district to request an appraisal

of property by the appraisal district.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:

SECTION 1. Section 25.18, Tax Code, is amended by adding

subsection (d) to read as follows:

(d) If the appraisal district does not reappraise property

sufficient personnel to make the reappraisals required by this

subsection on or before the deadline requested by the school

district.

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2026.
