Summary

Officers can ask courts next door, not just the local one.

The bill lets a peace officer or animal control officer who believes an animal is being cruelly treated ask for a seizure warrant from a justice court, magistrate, or municipal court in a neighboring county or city, not just the one where the animal is. It touches officers, local courts, and animal owners facing seizure. On the ground, officers can go to an adjacent jurisdiction's court when the local one is unavailable, starting September 1, 2025.
