From the Texas Commission on Fire Protection, in fire-code counties.
The bill lets a county that has adopted a fire code require its county fire marshal to hold a Texas Commission on Fire Protection certification as head of a prevention-only fire department. It touches counties with adopted fire codes and the people they commission as fire marshal. Those counties gain an optional hiring qualification for fire marshals commissioned on or after September 1, 2025, and nothing is mandatory.
