Summary

For those with an intellectual disability at public colleges.

The bill exempts former foster children who have an intellectual disability from paying tuition and fees for comprehensive transition and postsecondary programs at Texas public colleges. It touches students already eligible for the foster-care tuition exemptions under Sections 54.366 and 54.367 of the Education Code, and the colleges that run these programs. These students can attend the programs free starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, even though such courses may not receive state formula funding.
