Summary
From $250,000. Cheaper discovery rules follow.
The bill raises the dollar ceiling for civil cases that statutory county courts can hear alongside district courts, from $250,000 to $325,000. It touches people suing or being sued in civil cases, county courts at law, their clerks, and the Texas Supreme Court, which must apply its cheaper-discovery rules to cases up to the new ceiling. Starting September 1, 2025, new civil cases worth up to $325,000 can be filed in county courts at law, and the 12-member jury and district-clerk thresholds move up to match.
