Summary

State law and government materials would call it the Texas free-tailed bat.

The bill renames the Mexican free-tailed bat as the Texas free-tailed bat in state law, so any legal reference to the old name now means the new one. It also tells every state agency, university and local government to update their publications and other materials to use the new name by September 1, 2030, without spending substantial money to do it. Nothing else changes on the ground: no protections, penalties or funding are added, and the update duty expires in 2031.
