Summary

More classes count as approved education for subsidized child care.

The bill tells the Texas Workforce Commission to count GED prep, adult high school charter programs, English as a second language classes, job training, and other college or career school courses as approved education when deciding who qualifies for subsidized child care. It also bars the commission from requiring single parents to do more than 20 combined hours of work and school or training each week to qualify. Low-income parents in school or training get an easier path to state child-care help starting September 1, 2025.
