Summary
How the state tells people about contamination changes.
The bill changes how the state environmental agency tells people about groundwater contamination it learns about. It still has 30 days to send notice, but now it must act as soon as practicable, can use email, door notices or other methods besides mail, and must reach residents within one mile of the site in addition to private well owners and groundwater districts. People living near a contamination site who do not own a well will now get notice from the agency starting September 1, 2025.
