Summary

30 days instead of 15 before consent is needed.

The bill lets an emergency shelter keep housing and caring for a minor for up to 30 days, instead of 15 days, before it needs the minor's consent to continue or the minor qualifies for assistance and is waitlisted for housing. It touches emergency shelter facilities and the minors they serve under the Family Code section on shelter without parental consent. Shelters get twice as long to provide care before the existing consent or assistance conditions kick in, and the longer limit applies even to stays that started before the law takes effect.
