Summary

GED prep, English classes and job training all count.

The bill requires the Texas Workforce Commission to count GED prep, adult high school charter programs, English as a second language classes, job training, and other courses at accredited colleges and career schools as approved education or training when it decides who qualifies for subsidized child care. It affects low-income parents who are in school or training and need child-care help, plus the commission that runs the program. More parents taking these courses, including non-credit courses, would meet the activity requirement for subsidized child care starting September 1, 2025.
