Summary

Grants to help local responders answer 9-1-1 calls faster.

The bill creates a new special state fund, the Local 9-1-1 Response Fund, filled with money the Legislature appropriates, gifts, grants and interest. The state emergency management division must set up a grant program that pays cities, counties and other local governments to speed up how fast emergency responders answer 9-1-1 calls. Local governments that win grants must spend the money under a contract that gives the division enough control to make sure response times actually improve.
