Summary
Subchapter H’s private civil suits end. The state health commission enforces the whole abortion chapter.
The bill repeals five Texas laws on abortion, including Chapter 170A of the Health and Safety Code, the old Revised Statutes chapter, a Government Code rule on how abortion statutes are read, a Civil Practice and Remedies Code section, and Subchapter H of the abortion chapter, which is currently enforced only through private civil lawsuits. It touches abortion providers, patients, private parties who could sue under Subchapter H, and the state health commission, which would now enforce the whole abortion chapter. On September 1, 2025, those repealed laws would stop applying, and private civil suits under Subchapter H would no longer be available.
