Summary

DPS installs them at crossings TxDOT picks. No deadline, no funding.

The bill orders the Department of Public Safety, working with the Texas Department of Transportation, to install non-intrusive x-ray scanners at Texas-Mexico border crossings to inspect commercial trucks. It touches both state agencies, trucking companies crossing the border, and federal agencies, since the state must coordinate its installs with similar federal systems. State-run scanning equipment would go up at the crossings TxDOT picks, starting from a September 1, 2025 effective date, though the bill sets no deadline and no funding.
