relating to the enforceability of certain state agency and local government contract language regarding required security incident notifications.

Caption from analyzed text · version I.

Summary

Includes cybersecurity insurance contracts.

The bill makes void any contract clause, including in cybersecurity insurance contracts, that stops or restricts a state agency or local government from following the state's security incident notification law. It touches state agencies, cities, counties and other local governments, and the insurers and vendors who contract with them. On the ground, a government that suffers a security incident can report it as state law requires even if its insurance or vendor contract says otherwise.
