Summary

More drug possession and theft-related offenses can be sealed.

The bill widens the list of offenses that a trafficking or compelled-prostitution victim can ask a court to seal from public criminal history records, adding more drug possession offenses and several theft-related offenses and dropping the old limits to only the lowest punishment levels. It touches people who committed those offenses solely because they were victims of trafficking or compelling prostitution and who helped investigators or could not help because of age or disability. On the ground, more of these victims can petition the court that handled their case for an order of nondisclosure, unless they fall into a few listed ineligibility categories, starting September 1, 2025.
