Bill text, introduced version (I)
The caption pitches an offense for artificially generated media, which reads as AI-made content, but the definition also covers written text, images, audio and video created or modified using any other computer software with intent to deceive. With the deleted requirement that the media depict a real person doing something that did not occur, the definition can reach deceptive material edited with ordinary software, not only AI fakes.

Summary
AI or “other computer software.” And the media no longer has to show a real person.
The bill rewrites the existing Election Code offense that now covers deep fake videos so it instead covers any "artificially generated media" made with intent to injure a candidate or influence an election and published or distributed within 30 days of an election. The new definition reaches images, audio recordings, video recordings, radio broadcasts and written text created or modified using generative artificial intelligence or other computer software with intent to deceive, and it deletes the old requirement that the media appear to show a real person doing something that never happened. Starting September 1, 2025, a person who makes and spreads such media close to an election could face the offense.
