Summary

No public money for it, directly or through an outside group.

This bill bars Texas cities, counties and other local governments from spending public money on legal services for people who are in the United States unlawfully under federal immigration law. It also bars them from giving public money to an outside group that would use it, directly or indirectly, for those legal services. The only exception is when the U.S. Constitution requires the service, and the ban starts September 1, 2025.
