Summary

Any person or business they regulate is now fair game.

The bill widens the list of people whose criminal history records the Texas Funeral Service Commission may pull. It adds any person or business the commission regulates under the funeral licensing law and two Health and Safety Code chapters, which the bill cites as Chapters 691 and 692A. The commission gets a broader background-check reach over the funeral and related industries, starting immediately or on September 1, 2025.
