Medicaid, food assistance and cash assistance get flagged at application.
The bill orders the state health and human services commission to work with the state housing agency and local public housing authorities on a process for screening Section 8 housing voucher applications. The screening looks for applicants and their household members who may qualify for Medicaid, the children's health plan, cash assistance, food assistance, or other programs the commission picks. Anyone flagged must be told which programs they may qualify for and how to apply, with the two state agencies signing an agreement to split the work starting September 1, 2025.
