Summary

State Board of Education standards, or the district can’t offer it.

The bill lets Texas school districts offer an advanced placement course only if the course follows state school laws and the State Board of Education's required curriculum standards for that subject. It orders the State Board of Education to review every AP course districts offer, and it limits district boards to approving only AP exams tied to courses that meet those rules. Starting with the 2025-2026 school year, AP courses in Texas public schools must match state standards, which puts the state board, not only the outside AP program, in charge of what those courses contain.
